When looking through the Apex range, it seems that they are more focused on the contemporary to modern, this assumingly is the area to be in, but surely a few products with more of a traditional feel would increase their sales and notoriety. Surely it couldn’t hurt to branch into this area rather than ostracize this proportion of the market?

Having said this Apex has a selection of stoves, and stoves themselves have somewhat of a traditional feel, and Apex also have a number of inset fires, however it seems that Apex focuses more on the hole in the wall fires, or hang on the wall fires. The difference between the two may not be apparent, but hole in the wall fires need a hole for them to be fitted into, usually a chimney breast, and hang on the wall fires, although needing to be fixed securely to a wall, have more flexibility in their positioning, some don’t even need external ventilation.

There are a multitude of choice of these generally landscape modern wall fires in the Apex range, if these type of fires, being modern and contemporary in design, are what you are looking for than look no further, but please look at the detail.

Many of these modern wall fire designs look similar to each other, at a glance it might look like three or four designs with altering sizes, or displayed at differing angles. This could be a gas safe registered installer or a qualified electrician (depending on the type of fire being purchased) or even the vendor selling the product, or manufacturers of the fire themselves should offer advice or support on their product, it might be slightly biased advice, but advice all the same.

Evora is the latest natural gas fire to be launched by Legend fires, “where fashion meets efficiency”-legend fires. The Legend Evora fire emits good heat with a 3.8kW heat output, and is very efficient (83%), and when it comes to being fashionable they have covered all the bases. Legend have taken their Evora fire and given it the possibility to be hearth based, (three sided), or to be placed in a hole in the wall, (four sided), giving it a more contemporary look. Whether the hearth based or hole in the wall, the Evora fire comes with a choice of trim designs. For the hole in the wall Evora the standard modern finish trim is available in brushed steel, black and brass finishes. A Profile trim in also available for the Legend Evora, this trim is more contemporary in its design and comes in bronze, satin and polished brass finishes. The hearth based Legend Evora fire comes with the profile trim too, but the standard trim, which is available in a number of finishes, comes without a fret. Legend fires can supply a multitude of frets if required, however this leaves the option of using an existing fret from a previous fire, or choosing a fret to make the fireplace look more traditional, modern or contemporary, depending on your taste or décor.

Whether it is a three or four sided fire the Legend Evora is available with the choice of a more traditional, realistic coal fuel bed effect, or a more modern pebble fuel bed effect to complement the chosen fire finishes.

The Legend Evora does not have as much of a range of options, as other Legend fires seem to have more fuel bed effects, and control choices, or the option for liquid propane gas to be used. Apex’s newest range of inset gas fires is the Lux fires which feature some unique and contemporary designs and styles to suit any home. The Lux range also features two 4 sided hole in the wall gas fires called the Portrait and the Landscape.

The Lux fires that are available come with a range of different options such as the finish on the trim, various frets and also a number of different fuel effects. The Lux range features 6 fires including a full depth, slimline, contemporary full depth, contemporary slimline, portrait and a landscape model.

Apex Liberty Gas Fire

Apex has recently released a new range of hole in the wall gas fires called the Liberty. The fire itself is available with a wide range of frames and various options so that it can be customised to how you want it.

The Apex Liberty is available in 3 different sizes which Apex has named the Liberty 4, Liberty 6 and the Liberty 10. Each size of the Liberty gas fire is available in a frameless version which allows the fire to fit flush into the wall and provides a clear view of the unique flame effect from the fire. The Liberty is also available with a single frame available in a black glass or a mirrored fascia front. The Liberty Contrast provides a two panelled fascia with the back panel available in a wide range of colours to complement the dark brown glass front panel.

A focal piece of any room is sure to be a Gazco Studio 1, 2 or 3 framed in a beautiful sleek and shinning black glass frame with refined detail and dimensions. Versions of the black glass frame are due to be available from September for the open fronted and glass fronted studios. This stunning frame is to be known as the Studio 1 Glass, Studio 2 Glass and Studio 3 Glass depending on the corresponding studio fire the frame is to complement.

Due for release in September 2010 the new Gazco Studio Steel 2 frames are set to refresh the Steel 1 versions. Designed with the modern dimensions of the Studio Black Glass frames and also compatible with the open and glass versions of the studio fire, the Studio Steel 2 frame reflects more modern sleek dimensions. Studios offered with the Studios Steel 2 frame will have the choice of white stones log fuel bed effects to finish a truly quality contemporary styled hole in the wall fireplace.
